Under the theme of key S&T issues concerning the application of ionic liquid, the 366th session of the Xiangshan Science Conferences convened from 22 to 24 December in Beijing.
Despite its pillar role in the national economic development, the traditional process industry confronts such problems as high energy consumption, high material consumption and heavy pollution. Being a new medium for clean energy process, ionic liquid offers a novel solution to energy saving and emission reduction. As a frontier issue of S&T research, ionic liquid has strategic importance for international S&T competition, and as a key link to energy efficiency in the clean process industry, it offers S&T support to the national economic development with a significant bearing on national energy and defense safety.
China's breakthrough advancements in the application of ionic liquid have received worldwide attention. Apart from its good application prospect in the field of chemical engineering and metallurgy, the liquid proves to have huge potentials in energy source development, environment protection, sustainable socioeconomic development and S&T progress.
Experts from various disciplines were invited to have an in-depth discussion on the following topics:
